Warmer season and the ticks are back again
The season for outdoor activities is around the corner and so are the ticks! Ticks are small ectoparasites that are found in urban and rural areas in woodland, grass, open fields, and bushes. Ticks need blood for living and when they bite, they can spread diseases such as Lyme borreliosis (LB), Lyme neuroborreliosis (LNB) and tick-borne encephalitis (TBE). Ticks themselves do not cause a disease but if a tick is infected with a virus or bacterium, then that pathogen can be transmitted through the tick’s bite and cause a disease in humans. The key is to prevent the ticks from biting by removing the tick rapidly and by wearing long-sleeved shirts and long trousers when being in areas with ticks.
Tick-borne diseases can cause various and long-lasting symptoms and are often difficult to diagnose without appropriate diagnostic tests. Check out the wide test selection Aidian has for detection of Lyme borreliosis, neuroborreliosis and TBE. We are offering several detection methods from high-throughput screening and confirmation assays to easy rapid tests.
